Celebrating Christmas and looking forward to 2024
Our December Meeting was held next door to The Barnabas Centre, in St Paul’s Church. As it was Christmas we all enjoyed a mince pie with our hot drink (vegan and gluten-free options were also available). We welcomed the Running Reverend, Richard Curtis who entertained us once more with one of his humorous retellings of the Christmas tale. (Richard has also raised thousands of pounds for Parkinson’s UK through sponsored marathons and charity runs hence his nickname.) Next we were treated to an interactive concert of carols and Christmas songs from the Leicestershire Parkinsons Choir, led by their bubbly musical director Jane. An enjoyable morning was rounded off by drawing the special Christmas raffle, with loads of festive goodies.
Oadby Group is mutual support and activity group for people living with a Parkinson’s diagnosis. We meet 10:00 - 12:00 on the first Tuesday of each month in the Barnabas Centre in Oadby. The venue is accessible for wheelchairs and walkers and has a disabled toilet. Full address is -

As well has a chat and a hot drink and biscuit, we run an activity each month. We have talks from outside speakers, these may be directly related to Parkinson’s or these may be inspirational or interesting topics. We also have social meetings such as quizzes, beetle drives and performances from local music groups. Carers and family members are most welcome to attend as well.

The meeting concluded with the usual raffle, next months raffle is the big one!
On the 7th of November we had the pleasure of been in the larger church hall for an interactive performance by Strictly Ukulele. There show consisted of 18 songs, from the 20's to more modern numbers: Swinging on a star, Oh boy, Bring me sunshine, The Rose, Leaning on the lamp post, You're sixteen, Things, The glory of love, You are my sunshine, Any dream will do, My oh my, putting on the style, A white sport coat, 1920's medley, Blue suede shoes, Rock around the clock, When the saints go marching in.

We have a Ukulele Band to entertain us.
December 2023
Is our Christmas party with the Parkinson's choir, the running vicar and many more fun things.
