About us
Leicestershire and Rutland Parkinson's Network is a network of local groups who work across the counties to provide support and activities for people living with Parkinson's.
This website has been created for all people living with Parkinson's in Leicestershire and Rutland to provide information on our local groups. Our local meeting groups which form the hub of the Parkinson's network are identified under different names but all of them work under then framework provided by Parkinson's UK. The aim of the groups is to provide support and information and activities to people living with Parkinson's.
All groups are run by volunteers and support is provided by Parkinson's staff from the Midlands Regional Team.
We aim to provide signposts for those people living with Parkinson's, their family, and friends to activities across both counties as well as information and new initiatives from Parkinson's UK and others.
This website and a local Newsletter are provided by the 2 Activity Groups Leicester East and Leicester West which host 7 of the 10 local meeting groups.
PARKINSON'S UK GETS OUR SUPPORT
Parkinson's UK operates by raising funds nationally and locally for its activities in funding research for for a cure and its other work.
The local Activity Groups, Branches and support groups are left tor raise their own income to fund the local support group meetings and the various activities organised by them.
We in the network of local groups in Leicestershire and Rutland would ask you to consider supporting the local people living with Parkinson's now by giving to one of them.
We do not forgot the importance of the national work and our groups provide funds to the national organsiation.
For example Leicester East and West have jointly supported the national work by giving a sum, of £5,400 to help fund research.
